Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed by miHoYo, published by miHoYo in mainland China and worldwide by Cognosphere, d/b/a HoYoverse. It was released for Android, iOS, PlayStation 4, and Windows in 2020, on PlayStation 5 in 2021. The game features an anime-style open-world environment and an action-based battle system using elemental magic and character-switching. A free-to-play game monetized through gacha game mechanics, Genshin Impact is expanded regularly through patches using the games as a service model.
Genshin Impact takes place in the fantasy world of Teyvat, home to seven nations, each of which is tied to a different element and ruled by a different god. The story follows The Traveler, an interstellar adventurer who, at the start of the game, is separated from their twin sibling after the two land in Teyvat. Thereafter, the Traveler journeys across the nations of Teyvat in search of the lost sibling, accompanied by their guide, Paimon. Along the way, the two befriend myriad individuals, become involved in the affairs of its nations, and begin to unravel the mysteries of the land.
Each character has two unique combat skills: elemental skill and Elemental Explosion. An elementary skill can be used at any time, except for the rollback period immediately after use, while an element explosion has an energy consumption that requires the player to first accumulate enough energy.
Characters use one of the seven natural elements: Anemo, Cryo, Dendro, Electro, Geo, Hydro и Pyro. Combining these elements with the help of elementary reactions quickly hit opponents.
- The term "Genshin" has not been used in the English localization apart from the game's name. In East Asian languages, the word was used for the term "allogenes," which refers to Vision wielders.
- In Mondstadt, there's a sword stuck in a stone structure reminiscent of the Arthurian legend. Interestingly, you can interact with it, but as of my last update, it doesn't do anything special.
- The game incorporates various cultural references, drawing inspiration from mythology, folklore, and history. The diverse regions in Teyvat are inspired by real-world cultures, adding richness to the game's lore.
- Some characters have special interactions with animals in the game. For example, Jean has a unique interaction with the pigeons in Mondstadt.
- You can change the time of day by interacting with the Statue of The Seven. This can affect the lighting in the game and may help you in certain quests or make exploring more enjoyable.
- The game boasts a high-quality voice cast, with each character having fully voiced dialogue in multiple languages. This includes Japanese, Chinese, Korean, English, and other language options.
- The game has a strong anime aesthetic, with vibrant and colorful visuals reminiscent of anime art styles. The characters and world design draw inspiration from various anime and manga influences.
